When two organisations that put people first come together, united by shared values and a desire to make a difference, great things can happen.
In June, Medibank and Meals on Wheels Queensland joined forces to bring purpose, connection and community support to a new level. At the heart of the partnership are two closely aligned missions: Meals on Wheels Queensland’s commitment to helping older and vulnerable Queenslanders live independently in their own homes, and Medibank’s purpose of creating Better Health for Better Lives.
For Medibank’s Queensland team, the partnership provided a meaningful opportunity to bring its local purpose to life: locals supporting locals.
The team wanted to make a tangible difference in the community while building stronger connections with people whose paths they might not ordinarily cross. It was an opportunity to step outside the workplace, roll up their sleeves and contribute directly to an organisation that plays such an important role in the lives of Queenslanders.
Medibank’s Queensland leadership team came together to volunteer with Meals on Wheels Moreton Bay. They had the privilege of delivering meals directly to local residents and helping to clean the kitchen, the heart of the operation where much of the magic happens.
The experience was about much more than meals and practical support. It provided a valuable opportunity for reflection, connection and gratitude.
Meeting members of the local community and witnessing the dedication of Meals on Wheels volunteers firsthand reminded the team of the importance of human connection and the everyday things that can sometimes be taken for granted.
The partnership has also extended beyond volunteering. Medibank sponsored two significant community events: Meals on Wheels Pine Rivers 50th anniversary celebration and the organisation’s 70th anniversary gala event in Brisbane.
These events gave the team another opportunity to connect with volunteers, community members and local businesses that support the Meals on Wheels mission. They also provided a chance to recognise the extraordinary contribution the organisation has made to Queensland communities over many decades.
This evolving partnership unites two organisations through their shared focus on health, longstanding service and community impact.
By working together and remaining focused on what matters most, Medibank and Meals on Wheels Queensland are helping create stronger local connections and better
outcomes for Queensland communities.
And this is only the beginning.
