Meals on Wheels Queensland is proud to announce a new partnership with St John Queensland that will help make it easier for more people across Brisbane and Wide Bay to access nutritious, affordable meals and stay connected to their community.

From May 2026, St John Queensland’s Community Connections Transport (CCT) service will support community members to travel safely to selected Meals on Wheels locations, where they can choose from a wide range of freshly prepared, home-style meals at affordable prices starting from just $10.

This collaboration brings together two long-standing community organisations with a shared commitment to care, dignity, and independence. St John Queensland has supported communities for more than 140 years, helping people stay mobile, connected, and independent. Meals on Wheels Queensland has been serving communities for seven decades, delivering millions of meals each year to thousands of people across the state.

Together, the partnership strengthens access to one of life’s most important essentials: good food.

Meals on Wheels Queensland currently delivers over 2.9 million meals annually to more than 23,000 individuals across the state. Meals are prepared fresh in accredited kitchens using quality ingredients, with a menu that includes nourishing mains, hearty soups, breakfast options, and desserts designed to bring comfort and enjoyment.

Through this new initiative, community members will be able to travel with St John Queensland to participating Meals on Wheels locations, select meals in person, and enjoy the convenience of return transport: all in one simple, coordinated experience.

The initiative places a strong focus on choice, independence, and accessibility, allowing individuals to select meals that suit their preferences and needs, while removing barriers related to transport and cost.

“This partnership reflects what we are all about, supporting people to live well, stay connected, and enjoy good food in a way that is practical and dignified,” said Evan Hill, Meals on Wheels Queensland CEO.

“In collaboration with St John Queensland, we are helping to extend the reach of our services and ensure more people can access affordable, nourishing meals in their community.”

In addition to standard meal access, eligible community members may also be able to access subsidised meals through programs such as the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), Support at Home, or the NDIS. The Meals on Wheels Queensland team encourages individuals to reach out to learn more about available support options.

This initiative will also be closely monitored to assess community uptake, with the potential for future expansion across additional locations if successful.

Meals on Wheels Queensland is proud to be working alongside St John Queensland on this initiative, making it easier for more people to stay connected, get out into their community, and access good, affordable food when they need it.

At its heart, this partnership is about people: helping remove everyday barriers, supporting independence, and making sure more Queenslanders can enjoy simple things like a good meal and a friendly connection along the way.
