On Wednesday, 18 February, the Stafford community came together to celebrate a truly remarkable local champion, with the unveiling of Jack Pool Place in Keong Park, right beside Stafford & District Meals on Wheels.
For nearly three decades, Jack Pool dedicated himself to the people of Stafford with empathy, humour, and an unwavering commitment to service. His life was defined by kindness, humility, and a quiet dedication to making the lives of others better. Words like community, gentleman, and legend were often used to describe him.

Jack’s journey with Meals on Wheels began shortly after his retirement, and over 22 years, he became a cornerstone of the Stafford community. He served in many roles, including 16 years as President of Stafford & District Meals on Wheels, and later as Life Member and Patron. Jack also contributed at the state level on the Queensland Meals on Wheels board, all while remaining focused on the personal connections and care that defined his approach.
The naming of a section of Keong Park in his honour is a fitting tribute to Jack’s legacy. The unveiling took place on what would have been his birthday, with family, friends, fellow volunteers, and local leaders including Cr Tracy Davis and Councillor Danita Parry joining to celebrate his life and achievements. In true Jack style, the occasion was filled with warmth, laughter, and stories of the difference he made in the lives of so many.
Jack never sought accolades or recognition. He simply showed up, week after week, bringing kindness, conversation, and compassion to those around him. From delivering meals to fostering community connections, Jack believed in the power of service and the impact one person can have.
Now, as the sign of Jack Pool Place stands proudly beside Stafford Meals on Wheels, future generations passing through Keong Park will be reminded of the extraordinary life of a man who gave so much to his community. Jack’s legacy of caring, service, and connection continues to inspire us all, and his spirit lives on in the work of Meals on Wheels in Queensland and the hearts of those he touched.
Vale, Jack Pool. Your contribution will never be forgotten.
